    300 TDi High Oil Pressure

This is in a Disco 96 auto 300Tdi and thought someone might have experienced this issue or might have sound advice on what to do. MadMan gave High Oil Pressure alarm....seems it went up past 6 bar, usually runs around 3 at speed. I only had about 3 k to go, it fluctuated a bit and did settle back down, but this morning when I checked the dipstick there was hardly any oil, checked not long ago and near full with no major leaks. I have removed the oil filter, about to run new oil in and see what happens. Any ideas? Should I flush the system with something to clear galleries?

I know, I posted last night ....no answer so thought Id try elsewhere.

It's not a burning oil issue, never burns oil. Im just wondering where the oil has gone. If it has a stuck oil pressure relief valve which Im thinking may have happened and pressure has built up the oil could be forced out.....but where? I cant see any evidence.

If its not leaking and not collecting in the bellhousing or timing cover , it has to be burning it as there isnt anywhere left for it to go.

it might be going out the exhaust via the exhaust valve seals or turbo turbine oil seal.

Do you have an oil cooler fitted? On a Perkins with high oil pressure (some fool had stretched the oil pressure relief spring) it was pushing lots of oil into the coolant as the seal between the coolant and the oil let go.

I think the low oil was simply due to various small leaks and myself not checking regularly enough.......

I'm suspicious of the VDO Sender (10 Bar) being faulty.

I initially set the EMS up incorrectly for the 5 Bar sender. Now its correct and giving logical readouts.

Strangely the 5 Bar sender does seem to give correct readouts especially while driving, 2.8 - 3 Bar at 100k's. At idle however its very jumpy before settling. At least its not showing 4.5 Bar like the 10 Bar sender was, so I presume the 10 Bar sender is faulty.
