    Shipping from the U.K.

Ordered stainless steel doors sills for Defender 90 together with rear door sill from a guy called Brendan from 4x4overlander.com. I have no interest in this company but Brendan asked me to mention this to members if interested in ordering any goods from the U.K.

    Hi XXX

I am not sure if you or other members of AULRO use the eBay GSP Global Shipping Programme.

As a small company we do not get blanket rates for our overseas sales. What we have to do is pack the goods, weight the parcel then get some quotes to submit to our customers. We can subtract the UK VAT off the goods price.

Recently we have sold various things to Australia through the eBay GSP.

Now one item was almost 300 pounds including UK VAT and eBay charged 25 pounds for shipping it to Australia. We can not subtract the UK VAT as we have not exported it.

Now if we had sold that item direct to Australia carriage cost could have been between 40 to 50 pounds compared to 25 pounds carriage from eBay.

However that 300 pounds would have had UK VAT taken off so the cost would be 250 pounds plus 40 to 50 pounds carriage or a total of 290 to 300 pounds, so cheaper then eBay.

As a small company we (amongst many other companies) increase our eBay prices over our webshop premises to take account of eBay fees (10%).

So it might be worthwhile telling AULRO members it might be beneficial to contact eBay sellers direct via email and see if they will export direct and subtract the UK VAT. They can save on their prices and the seller saves on eBay fees.

Hope you do not mind mentioning this.

    Regards.

    Great tip.
    Thanks.
I just purchased some items from Urban Truck in the UK. Got the package one week later which is faster than some Aussie companies I buy from, good postage rate and EXCELLENT customer service.
    Highly recommended.

I was looking at a few things from Urban Truck also, and found the quoted shipping rates ridiculous.

For a 120GBP set of top and side vents, they wanted a further 120GBP to ship it to Aus. Did you find a way around this?

    GDay Andrew.
Im not sure why it was such a high postage quote.
My postage from themwas quite reasonable, and as I also own an MG, Ive bought loads from the UK ( including a muffler) and was happy enough.
Ebay often screws retailers due to its automated shipping quotes.
Perhapse ask them if they could do better with the postage?
    Best wishes mate.

I bought my Nolden LED headlights from Brendan at 4x4overlander.com, and highly recommend him. Interesting to hear the conflicting reports on Urban Truck postage rates, I've been admiring some bits and pieces on their website but haven't made it to order stage yet.

How are the door trims and rear? Take some photos and post them up. I'm keen to order them from uk.
