Thread: Best non roof rack Hi Lift Jack mounting location

Having just bought a Hi-lift jack. I keep seeing various brackets that sit on the lift part of the bracket (the L shaped part). In order to be able to use mine do i need to get the aforementioned bracket...??

If so any ideas where i can get one from..?

With my hi lift, I bought some extra bits to complement it:
1) Jack Mate base (pic 1) - allows spreading and a spiked end to dig into rock etc where there is not a level surface to jack from
2) The tyre lifting adapter (see 2nd pic above). Lifts from the tyre

Using the hi lift is an interesting experience. My usage in the last has been to shift a heavy tree a short distance off the track, and repositioning a large rock. Haven't had to usse it to lift the vehicle yet, but when I do, it would more likely than not be to pack under the tyre for getting out of a bog scenario.

I dont want to take this thread off track, but are you sure you need a hi lift jack or are you carrying it because "everyone else says so, seems to have one?"

Speak of the devil, I got a puncture today. But I didn't need my hi lift Jack because I was able to drive home and change the tyre on the flat in the driveway. A two inch tek screw straight in between the tread blocks, but the tyre didn't go down. Virtues of tubeless Bridgestone 661. First puncture on those tyres in 10 years.

I used the stock bottle Jack to change, which works very well in ideal conditions. Much safer than using the notorious uppercut punching hi lift jack!

Yes pic 3 is the Defender specific hi lift jack attachment. The ARB bullbar has jacking points specific to this as well as for hi lift jack.

Keep mine under the seat too although it's a lot tighter fit in the puma than what it was in the TD5 mine lives in an ARB bag too friend had his on back of defender when he came to use it once the pin had fallen out ! Also safer from thieves.

Mine stays in the garage as it's useless on a modern 4WD.

Too true. They're no good on anything with curved panels and no real access to chassis jacking points like Defender.
