Aren't AV gas and jet fuel the same thing, kerosene?
Nope. Avgas is high octane petroleum.
I ran it in my street car years ago...
jet Fuel is essentially Kero..
Ahhh ok, cool
So if you mixed kero with 2st oil you've got good diesel :)
I'd be experimenting with someone else car. :p
Yeah I'll try it in dads disco
Once temps drop below a certain point down the Antarctic we would change all diesel vehicles to SAB (Special Antarctic Blend). Then when temps dropped even further change to Jet A-1. Have forgotten the temps that dictated the changes.
Reason being that at low temps some parts of what makes diesel fuel solidify out as waxes etc.
The Jet A-1 didn't seem to do any damage - but then again the vehicles were not high speed, high mileage, road burners.
Insightful ;)
Yep - the plan after 14mths in the Antarctic was to bum around the equator on holiday for at least 6mths. That stretched to 9mths of holiday. Decided I liked it here, so got a job.
Now more than 17yrs in total have passed ... In that time have added to the getting of a job: the getting of a wife, the getting of a son, the getting of a Defender. All bring me joy.
