Have a look at the outlet of a Puma exhaust in the UK... just clean shiny metal. I look at mine here, even since running 'premium diesel' from new, and the exhaust outlet is filthy black with soot! Goodness knows what the rest of the entire exhaust system looks like, exhaust valves back!
I really hope Oz can somehow adopt the same fuel standards in the future ...

I keep tellin' ya.......it's Singapore Sling. All the same stuff right across Australia except for a minor few outlets in Brisbane which comes from the local refinery and is NOT distributed outside of Brisbane.

ULSD 15ppm sulfur content. Used in aus. Euro IV is 20ppm. Euro V is 10ppm. Soot is from combustion and not sulfur content. Having a complete DPF system reduces the soot.
Yes, that's what a DPF does,....& I'm glad I don't have one, they are starting to cause problems in the U.K....something else to "go wrong"?

I hope no one is under the assumption that the lower ppm of sulfur means an increase in HP. The only thing in fuel that dictates power is cetane rating and your tune. Using lower ppm sulfur diesel can damage fuel systems if they are not designed for it. Higher cetane rating can only be an advantage if your engine can be tuned to use it properly in terms of HP. Soot production may be reduced with the higher cetane rated fuel but also depends on tune and engine efficiency.
I'm sure I read a while back that the TD5 could run on Av-gas does anyone know who uses this ? If so how does the economy differ from regular diesel ? Jim
AV gas is basically kerosene, which isnt a whole lot more combustible than diesel, It would probably run good but it would kill it shortly as kero has no lubricity
