    D90 rear door lock

I now have to use the key every time I open the rear door on my D90. Is there a fix for this problem?

I started a thread on the Advantages of a Cargo barrier. The problem you described was mentioned by several people in the thread with some tips.

I'm also getting this occaisionally. My car is going to the dealer next week for end of warranty inspection. Going to get them to check it out

Had the same issue after a particularly dusty drive. Got to the stage where even the key wouldn't unlock the door and had to crawl in and open it manually with the lever inside. Pulled the lock out and thoroughly cleaned it with aerosol brake cleaner and air, then lubricated with graphite. Worked sort of for a short while then developed the same issues again. I suspect that the "insides" of the lock are soft enough that it is easily scored and marked if there is grit and dirt in there and damages the mechanism. Ended up with it being replaced under warranty about 12 months ago and issue hasn't arisen again (fingers crossed cos out of warranty now).

I'm experiencing a similar problem, though mine at times is just the lock not engaging properly. This started on Fraser Island, so could be the same cause. I'm due for my 12 mth service this month so was going to ask them to fix.

I've had the Rijidij rear wheel carrier fitted, so I hope they don't use that as an excuse to not fix under warranty.
