    Dragging handbrake

    Hi Guys,

On my 110 the handbrake drags, I've done the usual adjustment thing (tighten it up, back it off) but it doesn't seem to matter how much I back it off it still drags. Is this a shoe contamination problem?

It drags to the point of getting hot and smelling after a short drive..

    thanks

    Piston is possibly seizing.

    Remove prop shaft
    Remove brake drum
Disassemble brake and tear apart the piston and give it a good clean. Put in some copper grease or something (others might have a better suggestion here).
    Reassemble and enjoy.

Or I could be way off haha, worth a check though!

As suggested, expander is seized, or the cable has a broken strand and is sticking, or it has oil leaking onto it. You probably have to pull the drum to diagnose it, although oil contamination shoould be fairly obvious.

If it is the cable, replacing it should be a priority, as it is embarrassing to have it stick firmly on!

Oh yeah that's another one! Before I fixed the expander my cable was full of crap. It took a a lot of brake clean to lube to sort it out.
