Thread: Removing dash - time needed?

Have you had a look yourself? You can pop the centre fascia out in 2 minutes, which gives you access to basically all the room in there. If it's behind the gauges, that takes longer - perhaps 15 minutes.

I can't see why you'd need to remove the dash, you just need to get a hand in.

Can you please describe how you can 'pop the centre fascia out in 2 minutes'... I need to take mine off to replace it... undid the 2 bolts and tried to lever it off but it seems VERY well fastened and I don't want to break or mark it!

The center fascia has clips, I believe 4 of them, that you just have to forcefully pull out. Grab the fascia from top and try pulling it out with a bit of force once you have screws out. Just don't break the fascia. I think the clips are located around the air levers

That's a good instructional TA. If you don't have a trim tool, a rag draped over a flat blade screwdriver should do the job.

if you can't see anything when you first have a look might be worth a try with an inspection camera

Thanks for the past post 'link' mate

I asked my dealer the 'how' question... and got the predictable evasive answer... So when I said that what if there was a rattle behind the facia and it NEEDED to be removed, he simply replied... 'rattle Sir... it's a Defender'!!

Perfect!

I will get on this tomorrow... and no, I won't 'break it'!!!
