rear light pole worklight wiring defender puma - rijidij

hey folks can anybody help with the specifics of which wires to connect to for an MY15 Puma 110?

now at the rear right corner of the defender there is a bunch of wires going to the reverse light etc. There is a cable coming from the reverse light with 3 wires. And the instructions from Rijidij are:

    green-yellow connect to vehicles earth

    remaining two wires
    - connect one of the wires to a permanent fused power supply
    - connect one of the wires to the positive power supply of your vehicles reversing light

any super easy way to know which wires to connect to, for an electrical-ignoramus ?

    thanks

    I've done it.

I pulled the reverse signal wire from the loom that runs thru the LHS rear wheel arch (in my 90- your results might differ in a 110?)

I ran a 12V feed wire from the battery to a fuse block behind the rear LHS panel / speaker.

I was told (by Alien and others) that there is a factory 12V positive that is part of the rear tow harness which can be used.

I've got some pics etc here if it helps:

After installing the Rijidij the other week, I will be installing a rear reversing light.
This is not normal, but I have an extra battery sitting in the rear cargo area.
I plan to run a fuse box off that battery, and wire it to the rear led.

Legally, I should mount a relay off the reverse light to trigger it on.
But my led can be turned on remotely via a wifi remote control and because its really bright, the remote also has a dimmer.

Anyway, thats what I am going to do (when I get around to it)

Thanks for the replies. ....assuming I know nothing - how do I identify the factory 12V positive that is part of the rear tow harness ? That's the fused power supply right ? And then I got to identify this cheeky positive supply to the reverse light...which I guess I can trace to the light.
I've got a learning curve on its way as I'll be wiring up all the traxide stuff soon.
This electric stuff is new territory for me. ..I'll end up hotwiring my trailer.

invest in a $5 multi meter if you don't have one already. Or even a test light.

I don't have first hand experience with the rear tow harness, but basic procedure would be something along the lines of :
Stick black multimeter probe on an earth point (any raw metal surface on the car which attaches to the vehicle body or chassis), and the other end on the connector harness.
Look for a signal that shows 0 volts when the engine is keyed off, but goes to 12V (most likely 12.8 ish volts) when it's keyed ON. This is your ignition switched 12V supply, and should be suitably fused in the vehicle's fuse box.

For the reverse power source, same deal as above, but leave vehicle keyed on, and move gearbox to reverse to see the voltage change.

There are wiring diagrams available for our cars, but with some searching around here and some testing / thinking, you'll get it done easy.

I found the below thread really helpful when we wired up the tow bar on our MY13 and it might help identify some of those wires. Got Murray to fit our rear bar and light so cheated on that one!

Sorry I haven't replied earlier, I haven't been on the forum much lately.

Yep, on Pumas that I've fitted light poles to, there is a big grey plug on the end of a loom behind the plastic cover directly behind the rear R/H wheel. The plastic cover is easily removed, it only has two screws. This loom has all the wires you need. The thick purple wire (thicker than the other wires in the loom) is permanent power which you can use to connect one of the positive wires from the light pole. This will power the light when switched on manually for camping etc.
I don't recall the colours of the other wires in the loom at the moment, but the earth will most likely be black. The earth from the light pole is green/yellow.
For the positive feed to the reversing light function of the light pole, you will need to find the wire in the plug which provides power when the car is put in reverse with the ignition on.

Hope this helps. Please feel free to call me if you need any assistance.

    Cheers, Murray
