Can't believe how easy it started

Have not started the Defender for at least 14 months 300tdi
put a new battery and hit the key it started straight up just as if I just turned it off, oil pressure came straight up idled away with no miss or anything. I thought that was pretty cool....

After 18 months touring around Oz, I opened my Uncles shed door, reconnected the battery to my TD5 D2 and it fired up first go. Didn't even charge the battery! The rear was on the bumpstops due to the sls but that was it. Quick service and diesel filter change and is still going strong.

The 300 Tdi has been and all ways will be an excellent engine,a few years back a couple of members constantly crapped on it but owners always new the score . Pat

In some ways I think the 200tdi is a better engine.
But perhaps not for the reasons you think....

Well just to go one better...

Had a 300tdi (disco 1 though) had been sitting in storage for 15 years, checked oil, coolant etc, turned over by hand, all ok.

Unplugged the fuel solenoid, cranked on battery until oil light was off.
Re-connected fuel solenoid, turned key and it started straight away.

    Regards
    Daz
