Don't know if it's best, but my 2.2 runs a Safari. Well built, ARB fitting, and well respected. UV stabilised, water seperation and. Ram air head. Anything but those stainless bits of pipe that are becoming the rage lately.

OK, I guess this topic has been done to death already.
Nevertheless.
I have been opposed to the fitting of a snorkel because of the loss of power.
However after watching [ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LC5ld79joIA&list=FLyRETGDDzA9tZgtzvWKIS2w"]this video[/ame] (thanks to 4x4 earth and its not a landy), I'm now convinced.
Whats the best snorkel that minimised power loss.
I dont care what it looks like, as long as it can be sealed up.

There are probably pros and cons for all types, but I've had safari snorkels on an 80 series toyota land cruiser and also a GQ Nissan patrol for many years - nil issues whatsoever.
My 2014 Defender 110 has a safari snorkel, with Nugget sealing kit. This setup has never been tested in deep water, but I have every confidence in it. The previous vehicles did water crossings (without after-market sealing) with no problems.
Cheers,
Are you sure snorkels cause a loss of power?
I didn't notice any reduction in power when I fitted my Safari snorkel.

1998 300 Tdi Defender Trayback 2006 - often fitted with a Trayon slide-on camper.
If you are after a snorkel for water crossings, then you need to replace the intake to the airbox too.
Get this kit at the same time...

As for snorkel brand, Safari are good - I have one, and cannot fault it, but it comes down to personal taste I think.

Why would you think snorkels would reduce power?
This would be along the same line of thinking that ram air type heads increase air flow (they probably would at 300km/hr though)
Mantec, they also are the same as genuine.
Mulgo fitted mine up, specialty sealant used, all water tight.

SubscriberMantec, great quality, look great, and you can get them from UK on EBay for a great price, I think they really suit the defender and have their own distinct look.
I've used a Safari snorkel with no problems. Has anyone used both Safari and Mantec? Interested to know if Mantec restricts flow more than Safari with its narrow neck where it joins the quarter panel? Also quality of plastics / fitting comparison?

I've got a Safari and it came with instructions to seal the whole system (basically just sikaflex the joins at the guard and the airbox) and new rivets to put the airbox back in.
Only issue I have is that I couldn't get it to mount perfectly on the guard.
It's like it has to twist to mount properly which I tried to do by tightening and loosening mounting bolts but it didn't work.
I've since seen some others on pumas and they all had the same gap.
