Thread: Lets play - whats that sound! (2.4 Puma)

Hi folks, before I ship my car off to the mechanic, does anyone want to hazard a guess to what is making this noise:

It was severe enough to warrant a piggy back on a tilt tray until a proper diagnose can be made.



Notes:

• 2011, Defender 130 2.4 tdci
• ODO 85,500 km - full service inc fuel filter replaced @78,000km
• Oil and cooling system OK
• Last tank of fuel was run down to 10lt remaining
• No engine faults reported
• Made noise twice recently when cold then went away
• Noise came back with vengeance on freeway after 30 mins of running.
• Noise matches engine speed.
• Noise appears to be at the top and back of engine.

Side note, which mechanic would I be best taking this along to. I'm in the Eastern Suburbs of Melbourne.

Thanks for be feedback - something to checkout and eliminate. No obvious loss of power.
