    Aftermarket seat options

    Hi all

The drivers seat in my 1998 130 is looking and feeling a little tired. I have already replaced the foam.

What are the options for aftermarket seats? I would like some more comfort that's for sure.

    I found this:

    Land Rover Defender Seat

I am assuming the seat fitting kit includes a hinged mechanism so I can access the box under the seat.

Anyone have these seats or others they recommend?

    Thanks

Do you know roughly how much they cost? I had a look at new seats in ARB (I think they're recaro?) and they were great, but SO expensive! About $2,000 a seat and up.

I'm still trying to sort out good seating for my County too. I have just put a Disco1 seat in and it's way more comfy than the original County seat, but I'm wondering if I can still do better? One thing that exercise highlighted for me is how small the County seat is. The Disco seat is HUGE in a 110! A lot of seats will be too big to practically mount in the front of a 110.

Also, I don't think any of the aftermarket seats have removable base do they? If you want access to under seat, you'll need your own solution. (I'm making my own hinge/latch frame to mount them on).

Try for some SVX seats (recaro). Probably similar in $ to the aftermarket offerings and direct fit, heated with removable seat base.

SVX Recaros are factory priced at $12k each.

I believe it was Stratos that made a seat with removable seat base, most others make a flip back frame...

Keep in mind for insurance and road worthy purposes the seat and base need to be certified...

Jaw just fell on the floor. 12k each - do they supply lubricant with that.
Id better revise the insurance for what I think the 130 is worth with its SVX interior.

I'm happy to hear some make removable seat base at least. Maybe I'll inquire further. The price however, I don't understand. $12k? WTF? I thought $2k was a lot.

One thing I don't need is heated seats!!!! I wonder if there is an option for a cooling seat??

Replacement seats is not a cheap exercise, but I need to do something

lol Yeah, can we knock $1000 off the price if we go without the heated option?

Same thing with cars like the Range Rover that come with heated steering wheel. ha! Never got frostbite from the steering wheel, but I've burnt myself a few times!
