Since this topic has resurfaced - I needed to change the battery in one of my FOB's - and in the MY15 Defender it was as simple as the three steps in the manual.

    Cheers,
    Col.

In mine there is no note about having to change it inside the vehicle

I have 3 steps in mine

    To Replace the battery:
    1. Remove the cover, by sliding it in the direction of the arrows
    2. Use the key blade of the black key to separate the key fob body
    3. Fit a new and unused CR2032 type battery (available from a Dealer / Authorised Repairer) with the positive (+) side upwards.

There is a note about not touching the battery and another note if the battery is not new then the low battery warning will not extinguish.

There must have been a change in the FOB at some point.

    Cheers,
    Col.
