What did you do to your Puma today?

Remove the two allen head screws in the middle of the centre panel and gently lever the sides of the panel to pop it out of the clips that retain it. Balance the radio on your knee while you unclip the wires to the switches and clock until you have enough access to do what you need to do or. optionally remove the panel completely. I always forget the microphone plug for the radio, or the antenna plug, or the subwoofer signal or......In an ideal world you would use a plastic tool to lever out the centre panel but it can be done with a flat bladed screwdriver if you are careful not to put too much pressure on the plastics.

Removed all traces of possibly the worst dual battery wiring ever (8awg) to both an internal & an external anderson plug fitted for the trailer electrics, as there's no second battery yet & the solenoid was in a crap position. Also binned a similarly shocking Redarc EBRH install, complete with a 'she'll be right' twisted in behind tape, brake light connection.

Whilst doing all that nonsense, a parcel arrived so I then got stuck into fitting HD drive flanges all round. Fronts were already greased so no dramas there. The rears were dry though, presumably as some kind of sacrificial offering as they appeared to have dried red blood on them. Lucky I ordered drive shafts too really. Such a nice gear change now so I'm definitely going to have an alcohol to celebrate :BigThumb:

Two easy but fantastic mods today.

‘’The Pace Automotive Intermittent Wiper Relay, just swap out the factory relay under your steering wheel fuse box, hold your wiper stalk in for your required delay, and done.
‘Brilliant! £30 from Pace Automotive UK or £25 from Mud UK.

Mud also now do window blinds for Defenders for ALL windows, including the alpine windows, and they attach to the inside of your vehicle by magnets.

Fantastic!

Im really happy with these two little changes, and highly recommended. I know there’s other options for the intermittent wiper relay, I like the Pace unit, no reason, but they have good gear.

Short story long (a tale of woe almost).

Sal and I went hunting for pink flannel flowers along the State Mine Road Lithgow way. They've popped up as a positive
outcome from the otherwise destructive bushfires in the area.

The road in from the Zig Zag railway was wet slippery and potholed so the CDL was engaged and a steady 40 km/h was maintained without issue until both the ABS and Traction Control lights lit up and stayed on.

Bad earth I thought. No further investigation until we got home.

I was wrong. The driver's side rear brake stone guard had parted company with the hub and in the process removed the speed sensor from the hub. Fortunately, it remained attached to the cable. The stone guard was lost and I cleaned and reinserted the sensor into the hub but the lights were still on. Nanocom came to the rescue. I used the WABCO module to diagnose and clear the fault and all is good, the lights are out.

I've ordered some reinforcing plates from Nuggetstuff Defender Rear Brake Stone Guard Reinforcers – Nugget Stuff (Thanks Wayne) and a new rear stone guard will be reinforced along with the remaining one.

So the lesson is: "get a pair".

Those mirror arms look fantastic and so much more functional than my extended ones with poor powder coating.

Today I remapped my Puma for the first time with the BAS tool. Remapped it with the 170hp option to see how it feels. Boy oh boy wowee. What a huge difference. Everything feels amazing. Smooth acceleration, smooth changes, etc. Cant wait to drive it tomorrow.

Installed Mulgo rear passenger door adjusters. Nice to be able to open the doors fully, especially getting the little tackers into their boosters.
