Thread: What did you do to your Puma today?

Actually I did nothing but did revise slightly my price for it on carsales and did a bit to the Cooks shopping trolley Camry to ready that for sale. Then we're keeping the Deafener (if it still fails to sell) and the Cook is very happy about that.

Cooks Camry sold to the first couple that looked at it and for nearly the asking price. So now the roof rack comes off the Puma and in the carport she goes and we'll use her for our mild day trip and off road country trips.
Disco will be used for trips with the van and shopping plus the occasional pub outing.
That grin on the Cooks face is awful........

Just drove mine home today after 5000km of outback touring for the last two weeks. Ready to jump back into it and do it all again. For that sort of trip I really do prefer it to the Disco. (Ok, I admit there were a couple of patches of corrugations when I started to re-think that.)

Over the last couple of weeks I did a couple of things.

Put on some new BFG Mud Terrain KM2 235/85 r16 tyres. Thought long and hard about 255/85 but kept to the original size for warranty reasons. Love the look of the KM2s on the Defender, they've got something old fashioned about them. Plus they're very quiet - as quiet as the Cooper Discoverer S/T Maxx I previously had - and they're great in the Otways and Gippsland where we travel a bit

Extended the Frontrunner rack to the full 2.8m length. I've had it for years on my old Discovery 2. With some new slats and some longer side rails I've got a crazy amount of space up there. It's been super helpful when moving house recently. But about to put the rooftop tent on and fit it out more permanently for travelling.

Fitted the Frontrunner rear ladder too. Kind of annoys me how it bolts at the bottom but gutter mounts at the top. I think I'll bolt it to the top as well.

Hey mate nice looking landy, do you have any pics if it with the rack fitted but when it was shorter? Ive got the same rack, full 2.8m but am curious as to what it would look like if I trimmed it down.

I've got the same ladder to, bolted at the bottom gutter mount at the top. All been fitted for nearly 4 years, I'm 120kg and have had no issues with the gutter mounting of the ladder, its a solid unit. However the rack I've got to be careful not to stand in the middle of just one slat as they flex down far enough to almost touch the roof. Great rack, however it did knock my fuel economy aeound a fair bit

My 110 having its twin ARB air compressor, 4 Litre Air tank and dual ARB Air Locker diff locks being fitted.

Interested to find that three cir clips were missing from the axel ends!

Thanks. Here's a picture of it with the 1.8m "discovery" rack. It was a bit of an odd length. 2m would take it to the natural join in the roofline/b-pillar. Didn't notice any wind noise with it in that position, though do now it's full length.



I've got the various shorter side pieces just sitting in my basement if you want to make an offer

Also wasn't really concerned about strength with the ladder connection to the gutter. Just that the connection looks weird with the big bolt sticking up and all.

I'm gonna stop that Cook grinning somehow.......
Yes I must admit I still love the Defenders looks and off road drivability. Corrugations aside they do make it so easy and enjoyable. I've actually taken it off the "for sale" sites and will do some tarting up while she's in the carport and re-fit all the stuff I took out ready for some good bush trips.
Does this working on damn Land Rovers ever stop?
