Whilst I'm sure roverrescue was not being entirely serious telling you to get your Lab to jump... It's a *bad* thing for doggy joints (especially growing ones).
My guys are only 16ish kilos so easy to lift in and out. You could always train him to use you knee as a step or you could get this style of ramp to get him in and out. They are a bit of a PITA though and take valuable storage space.
Dog Ramp
This is the setup in the back of mine. Leads and whistles hanging off S-hooks, bags and other gear in the drawers below, and the space to the right of the RH drawer holds a 20 litre water tank.
I have a centre divider for multi-dogs, but you might want to consider something like that to seperate dog from luggage. Labradors apparently have a habit of eating anything and everything

That's a great set up.
My boy (Rufus) and my parrot Raj sit in the back where the second row seats were.

Today I finished fitting the front seat box access panel.
Very happy with the result, and now I can store jumper leads, first aid kit etc in there with easy access.
Hope this is of interest to others with fixed aftermarket front seats. Apologies for the inverted picture.

Hi Ken.Good job.I've been thinking about this for some time, but my only concern is that the seat box could sag. What do you think?
Hi Marty.
I don't think it will on mine as the seats are bolted to the edges, which is structurally intact. There is still quite an edge around the cut out. Apologies for the upside down picture.

And with the cover in place.
Hope it's right way up. It's got me buggered how to post photos here via hyperlink. Flickr doesn't seem to work.
As above, I also rotated and aligned the wheels, as per my 10K routine, and ditched the lock nuts, replacing with correct new wheel nuts. Kept the lock nuts just in case I loose any on rough tracks.
Also slight adjustment to the tie rod to Center my sports steering wheel.
A good day working on the truck, and only 13 more small and big jobs to tick off my list (from wiring up the new large FM antenna whip, through to installing mechanical locking diffs and new HD clutch)
