    LT230 Diff

Is there any one in Cairns or surrounding areas with the knowledge to remove LT230 diff & replace with Ashcroft ATB unit? I know bearing preload is very important here. Not having much luck with local specialists.

    Not near you but.....

If fitting the Ashcroft ATB to the LT230 transfer case...
*The only shim in the area you are working is behind the rear bearing outer on the output end that has the handbrake assembly, and generally it doesnt need to be altered.

*The preload on the standard centre diff is determined with two selective thrusts on each side of the diff gears, these determine the preload and are part of the complete diff assembly.

*As you are replacing the centre diff assembly with the Ashcroft ATB assembly, then there is no preload shims to be concerned about.

*While I do believe some have removed and fitted the centre diff housing with the LT230 transfer case in situ, generally I highly recommend you drop the whole transfer case and do it all on the bench.

you can see both the standard and Ashcroft ATB diff assembly here:
