I have no problem in fitting the rear step with a Hayman Reece towbar.
The threaded holes in the rear chassis cross-member are fully accessible.

    Well there you go....thanks.

Although I seem to only have one thread/captive nut in the chassis....the other (other) was a bolt that I had to cut off.

Will look at re-fitting after the bar is fitted.

Hi weeds, do you have a photo of your tow bar handy ? I assume it's the horizontal support bar type ... about a foot & 1/2 wide ?

My 2013 Defender rear step has no issues with my HR tow bar, but it has a support bar tapered forward to the chassis rails.

    Cheers,

    Pete

Here's a pic of the HR I fitted earlier this year. No problem with the step but won't work with a long range fuel tank I think.

Thanks......that bar looks different to the one I had fitted to my old defender, I always thought it was a hayman Reece.....

So there was a couple of different ones...

The one in the pic posted by the OP is not compatible with a Long Range tank. But allows the step.

Then there is a square tube version which allows the tank but inhibits the step being refitted.
