Tappet lash cap?

						So, I've got the 300tdi on the engine stand now in prep for the rear main seal and timing belt jobs. Just thought I'd better pop the sump off and have a poke around.
The previous owner did cook the head, I'm hoping this came from that - anyone got any ideas as to what this might have been in its former life?
PS: The 10 cent piece is just to show the size of the bits :-)

						I'd say almost definitely the case - originally I thought it was a washer, but on closer inspection the whole top of the cap has disintegrated.
Next step is to check the top end and hope this hasnt come off the 'new' head... (read suspect china jobby)

						well, the good news is that all the current tappet caps are in place, so the wayward one must have come from the last head. Just hoping that it didn't make any damage on the way down to the sump.
