Leaking seals on the ball sockets

Had a leaking of grease from the large ball socket on the front wheel

It was suggested to remove the retaining ring ( the large ring with the six 8 mm
Nuts ) and slide it back then flip out the rubber gasket and clean around it as dirt may have gotten in breaking the seal .

Did all this but when I flipped out the rubber gasket to clean it I did not realise that the grease in there is highly liquid so a lot of it very quickly oozed out ....lost maybe 100 mls ?

Question ........how do I replace that grease and what should I use ?

Ok great
As my defender is a new model I think it has a filler plug but no drain plug
........so with the one shot do I fill up until no more goes in or or there an amount that I should put in ?

One packet per side; from memory the volume is about the same as a drink can, very approximately. Given that you've let the grease out to the level of the bottom of the seal, just put the whole packet in. I can't imagine the level is actually that crucial at all.

Make sure you turn each wheel right out when you fill each swivel housing otherwise the oneshot won't go in properly because the swivel housing overlaps the chrome ball when in the straight ahead position.

Thanks for that .....so hard STEERING lock RIGHT on DRIVERS SIDE wheel And hard lock LEFT on PASSENGER side wheel ...correct ?
