Bundutec, Bundutop roof top tent hard shell

While sitting here with both my knees healing after their total knee replacements, I got bored and started researching roof top tents.
I decided on purchasing the Bundutec, Bundutop electric hard top roof top tent. For those trips where the caravan is too big. I'm over tents and swags.
$4000 delivered, and yes, its expensive, but I will use it a fair bit, it is set up in 15 seconds and packed away around the same time.
No poles, all bedding is already in place, and it's fairly light compared to others at 60kg.
I'll take delivery around mid Jan 17, then it will have to take a number along side all the other items I have purchased to fit or mod my 110.
Photos on my truck to follow.
    Best wishes all.

I forgot to say that it can take up to 20kg on its insulated ceiling, so you can easily mount a permanent solar panel for the aux battery, which I think I will do.
It has led lighting and a fan to circulate the air hence minimal condensation.
A big plus was the self deploying and folding awning that runs all the way around, so windows can stay open in moderate showers.
    Great!

    Fuel ecconomy

Just out of interest, I'm sure there's a few owners of these tents here with 110s.
Have you noticed much impact on fuel efficiency due to the blunt leading edge?
Would it be worth wile fitting a fairing infront of the tent face on the roof rack?
    Thanks for any advice.

    It's on it's way!!!

Just a wee bit excited, my Bundutec is on its way to me and I hopefully get it by the end of the week.
    Pictures to follow.
It's going to be a big couple of weeks re my Defender mods. Need to fit and wire up the tent, and fit my Rough Parts Gull Wing storage, doors, Max Trax carriers and tables.
Hope the weather cools down, it's killing me working on the truck in this.
    More to follow with pictures.

    Roof top tents

    Hi Witch.
That's a nice bit of gear, but I think I would have still gone with the Bundutec. No setting up at all, no hoiking the roof up, and lots more foot space with awning on each side. Horses for courses though.
Enjoy your new tent mate, sounds like you'll be one of the first in Oz.

I would never buy a rooftop tent that didn't fully cover the ladder. My 1st RTT was by a RSA mob, and the company was terrible to deal with. WA agents were good though. It had a half cover of sorts over the ladder that converted a light shower into tap directly over the ladder, by collecting the water into a steady steam dropping on the ladder. No joke, standing out in the shower you got damp, going up the ladder you got soaked.

    rar110,

Very good points, got me thinking about our previous Hannibal RTT's we upgraded to the Jumbo for that very reason.

Need to ask a few questions of Alu-Cab.

Thanks for jogging the grey matter

RAR110, interesting you should say that about having some sort of cover over the ladder. After originally wanting a hard shell RTT, I couldn't find one in my price range, but managed to find a fold out Howling Moon instead at a price too good to refuse.

As it turns out, having the ladder covered has come in handy many times over the last couple of years (tropical rainstorm-wise). Although I would love a hard shell tent for speed and ease of opening, I would probably miss not getting wet entering the RTT in the rain - unless I could find a way around this.

Also, good luck with new tent Ken. Can't wait to hear all about it.

I fit my RTT (Howling Moon 1.8) recently and have seen a drop in fuel efficiency by about 0.5-1.0 l/100k. I have a TD5.
