Hi one and all seasons greetings . A couple of days ago I finally got around to cleaning under the bonnet . There a lot of dirt from my last trip . I took off the fan cowl , easy 6 screws . Plus gives a lot more room , I used the Karcher after the engine bay , I turned it into the rad , I couldn't believe how much dirt a crap came out . So I thought as the weather warms up , and you haven't done your radiators already , give them a nice clear out . Cheer Jim .

I think what Tombie is angling at is a pressure washer can bust up the inter-tube fins of radiators intercoolers AC condensers... the fine perform nearly as important a job as the tubes
Having said that keeping rads clear of junk is a good thing - just gotta be careful

Wouldn't trickling hose water do the same job? Don't forget to flush the internals.

Isn't air better than water?
Some things like grass seeds swell when they get wet and become harder to remove.

Just be careful not to force the dirt and debris further into the radiator, as the fins are fragile.
You could pull the bottom hose off, dump the coolant and then stick the garden hose in the top and let the water trickle through and flush it from the inside out.

I except that using a pressure washer on a radiator is not a good idea . There is no damage to my mine either the core or cooling vanes , however lesson learned . I can understand how older Radiators would not be able to stand the force of
a pressure washer . I've seen older brass radiator cooling vanes turn to powder just though age . So please don't do what I did to clean the muck out , Maybe use a soft water flow , I still think from the motor side pushing it out from the direction it went in . Maybe air would suit some people . The main thing is our rads do suck a lot of dust and insects . It's something we don't get reminded of to often . Take care and good luck . Jim
