Broken sliding window latch- anyone improved on them?
The latch on the sliding rear window of my 130 dual-cab has broken for the second time, now the window creeps open annoyingly and I need to do something about it. As it is the little lock tab in the catch that is about 5mmx6mm that keeps breaking, I'm considering pulling the latch apart and making a metal piece to improve longevity. Just wondering if anyone has done this or if there is a replacement available before I reinvent the wheel? A new latch from LR is around $70 so I'm prepared to try an aftermarket option.
I haven't seen one but I am in the same situation.
I was thinking of using aluminium rather than the plastic of the original one. I don't have a metal lathe at this time but I have been looking around for one.

Mine has been chattering away today as I've been driving 4 hrs home. Bloody annoying. I was dreaming up some way of making up a hook with a threaded shank to slide through the centre gap to catch the outside pane, (my centre draught strip is missing) with a knurled knob that would tighten to drive both panes outward and snug against the frame. work in progress.

A bit of file work then drilled and tapped it for a M4 countersunk screw. Smaller would have been better but this was what I had in the odd screws jar. had to widen the slot in the body of the catch for the M4 screw to move in. https://www.aulro.com/afvb/attachmen...1&d=1483763010
I'll drop the broken one off my 300tdi into my work colleague on Monday. She will deliver to you for the same treatment now you have the method perfected!
