Question Puma 90 - ignition barrel key, vehicle cannot be turned on twice?

So, aside from the ignition barrel being on the wrong side in our Puma 90, the key does something funny where it cannot be started twice without removing and refitting the key.

    Is this normal?

To explain it another way, if I get into the vehicle, put the key in and start the car, then turn the car off, but leave the key in the ignition barrel, I will not be able to restart the cars engine again - the key won't turn again.
To start the cars engine again I will need to remove the key from the barrel and refit it. Then it will start perfectly.

    Hi,
Mine needs turning back to off before restarting if I stall it.
    Key stays in the lock.
    Cheers

It can be restarted, it's an interlock to prevent trying to re-engage the starter by error.

Just return it back to accessories and go again...

Ok, so just to check as I still feel that mine is different to what you mention.

    There are four key positions:
0 - the point where you first put the key into the ignition barrel.
    1 - accessories
    2 - ignition
3 - engages the starter motor

Now, on my Puma 90, I can go from 2 to 3 once, but then after going back to 2, I could not start the vehicle again without first returning to 1. I believe that this is the interlock that you describe Tombie.

But, what I refer to is that if I start and drive the car, then I park and leave the key in the ignition barrel in position 0, when I return to the car I will have to first remove the key before I can restart it! I.e. after killing the engine, I cannot go back from 0 to 1, 2 or 3!
This also occurs if I just put the key in and go to 2 or 3 for the purpose such as to use the radio and then go back to 0, I will have to remove the key before I can go back up.

Mine is the same as Tombie's, I think you have a problem twr7cx. Might be an idea to take it down the dealership and get them to sus it out (I'm assuming it's brand new?)

    Good luck with it
