Fumoto oil drain valves for 300tdi and td5 Defender

    I have a 1999 td5 Defender and a 1997 300tdi Defender.

I'm interested in getting Fumoto oil drain valves for both vehicles.

I'm looking for confirmation of the correct thread specifications for the sump plugs on both vehicles and/or the correct part numbers for the oil drain valves.

I've only found a few references which suggest the following are the part number needed. Can anyone confirm?

    Defender td5 - F-108 16mm-1.5

    Defender 300tdi - Adapter ADP-BSP1/4 and F-106 14mm-1.5

I recently picked up a Stahlbus oil drain valve.
I have also owned a Fumoto drain valve for about 8 years now on another car.

Although a more expensive, my money would go the Stahlbus again. Got it from Demon Tweaks on ebay, UK to Tamworth NSW in under 2 weeks!
Stahlbus has a much better design for an offroad vehicle- less nooks and crannies for mud to get into, and has a neat blanking cap. Only 'down side' would be needing the proprietary bayonet fitting to drain the oil, but nothing a bit of forward planning (and a safe place for the bayonet!) wont fix. Failing that you can always undo it like a normal sump plug.
Sorry I can't help with the thread dimensions.

Thanks, yes I saw those, and agree they are a better solution - but I know I'll forget where I put the bayonet - it just doesn't suit my personality!

Not sure how accurate this is, time will tell as I've now placed my order, but the wise www suggested that if the 300tdi sump plug is 19mm then its metric 14mm 1.5 pitch, and if 15mm then its the older 1/4 BSP.

Have ordered F-108N (for the td5) and F-106N (for the 300tdi) with fingers crossed.

A frustrating weekend servicing the defenders and fitting oil drain valves ... or not fitting them as it turned out.

The EZ108 doesn't fit a td5. The Valve body is too wide to fit into the recess in the sump. I've ordered a Stahlbus now instead. The Australian supplier is listed on the Stahlbus website and has provided excellent customer service so far.

I thought I had a M14*1.5 sump plug on my 300tdi, but turns out it was a 1/4 BSPP. The adapter from 1/4BSPP to M14*1.5 is no longer available in Australia. So unless you can find an adapter (can anyone find a local supplier of these?) or are willing to tap your sump, or are willing to run the 1/4 NPT into the BSPP thread (I'm not recommending it and haven't done it) the fumoto/EZ oil drain valves are no good if you have a 1/4BSP sump.

I have to say the service from Jack at Fumoto/EZoil has been first class ... I just wish the products suited land rovers.
