YES - they are plenty strong enough ( see above posts #2, #3, #5, #7) ( 4 X 1650kgs = more than a 110 will ever weigh).Quote:

My son & I have just finished painting a set of 5 white, its a good look, we'll leave them in the sun for a few days to harden.
we'll get the AT tyres transferred from a set of disco alloys next week. I'm over the alloy look, plus the impracticality of not being able to do anyhting on the hubs without removing he wheels, and those wheel nuts :(. cheers simmo

An important consideration when considering rim options on a Series, County or Defender is the turning circle, which is limited by rear of tyre hitting chassis on the side turned towards with some types of rims. I have set of Wolfs, which are 6.5 inches wide on an LWB series 2. Compared with the standard 5.5inch wide 272309's, the inner side of rim and tyre sits maybe an inch further out from the chassis. After screwing the stop bolts on swivel housings in, found limiting factor is steering box travel with wheels still clear of chassis on full lock. Still allows significantly smaller turning circle compared with standard rims. May start creating problems with swivel housing seals if allowed to turn sharper anyway
I also have set of Disco rims with reasonable tyres except inclined to go down from a rolling chassis dead Disco. So it now wears Series rims with worn out old crossply tyres that have tubes in them and do not go flat. Have checked clearance from inner sides of rims to chassis for both types. Effectively identical. The extra width on 7 inch wide Disco rims compared with the 5.5inch Series ones is all on the outside.
Considering the above, I certainly would not want standard Disco 1 rims on the front of a Defender if Wolfs were available instead. Some may regard the best option to have centres cut out of Disco 1 rims and rewelded in with rims further out relative to centres. Considerations include cost, load ratings and if wanting to run tyres wider than are satisfactory on 6,5 inch wide rims. My theory is that if bigger tyre sizes were overall better for most applications, the military would be using them widely and they don't.
Like others, I had a set of Disco steel rims which I used on my 110 for trips (the alloys are too pretty to take bush [smilebigeye]) Many thousands of kilometres travelled with lots of desert and dirt roads (Edjit Trips) with never an issue.
They are plenty strong enough for a 110 and no problems with mine re front clearance either. Not recommended for 130's though I believe.
