Check the sensors are pushed in far enough. Just gently tap them down until they stop against the sensor ring and they will find their ideal airgap when driving off.

SupporterFirst of all an introduction - I have a good '03 Defender TD5 (140k) and previously an Isuzu engined County. I am currently preparing for a mid year Simpson Desert expedition. I am OK on the tools, having maintained a shed full of Alfa Romeos, Lotus and others for the last 40 years. Not so good in the Defender as you will see.
I have been trying to fix the dreaded 95-100 kmh front wheel wobble. I read all the posts on this and similar forums and having eliminated everything else set out to measure and reset the swivel tension. All went according to plan, the front hubs seemed to be too loose and would flop from lock to lock. I carefully removed a single shim from each side which seem to get it into spec.
However, when I set out to road test it the ABS light stayed on and the TC engaged, locking up at least on wheel. So what I broken?
I don't have a Nanocom or similar device yet so am unable to delve further into the ABS.
Thanks in advance for your help.

The Isuzu 110. Solid and as dependable as a rock, coming soon with auto box😊
The Range Rover L322 4.4.TTDV8 ....probably won't bother with the remap..😈
Hi mate,
I have a 99 Defender and have both the lights on as well.
The previous owner told me it is the Wheel Bearings (Which i have sitting here like all the other stuff waiting to be installed...)
Might be worth having a look at them.

SupporterI ended up spending alot of time fiddling with the ABS sensors with no result. I gave up and took it to a LR specialist who replaced the upper swivel bearings - they had failed on both left and right sides.
So its all good now I hope. (Bank account not so good).
Now, back to preparations for the Simpson Desert crossing.
My guess would also be the sensors. Without a Nanocom or the likes you will find it hard to get to the bootom of fiddly electronics issues in a TD5. I have mine in the car permanently and it served me well.
