    Roof Racks

I am thinking of purchasing a roof rack for my 90.

I have seen Hannibal products and also Patriot roof racks by Landybitz. Is there any pros and cons with these 2 racks/suppliers.

    Rhino

I'm happy with my rhino pioneer platform. Good range of lengths. T-slotted bars
Also the slats run along the car, not across it, which makes it very now noise.

No cons that I know of other than they're both a bit exxy. Good quality though so you get what you pay for.

I also weighed up a rhino pioneer platform on a set of rhino legs, but went with a K9 unit in the end.

I thought the front runner 'wind cheetah' that was fitted mine was good value for money.....and it go loaded up plenty of time.

I went with the K9 Rak. Not cheap, but not silly expensive. Welded not modular so no assembly required and won't work itself loose. I guess welds count crack but I've had mine for about a year and no issues at all. Slats run long ways which apparently is better for wind noise than the Frontrunner.

I just went for the Rhino Defender bars (3) and a standard 3/4 length roof rack and it serves us well. Plenty of room for the rack-sack for bedding etc. and room in front for 2 jerries which I rarely carry.
2 of the bars sit under the rack and the 3rd is further towards the front of the vehicle for the homemade shade to be attached to.
Works well all round and didn't cost a fortune.

    I have a Patriot on my 90.

Brilliant bit of kit. Beautifully built, fits perfectly, immensely practical flat load rails with additional side and rear bolt on/off supports.

I found mine second hand... they are pricey new, but worth it imho! :>)

Land Rover Defender 110 roof racks

These guys make great roof rack, really strong.

I have had mine for about 10 years on my 110.

They do custom so I am sure they would do one for a 90.

I have a Hannibal on my 110, its still noisy though despite the slats running lengthwise.

    Good Points.
    Very light as its alloy
    Full length
    Very well built
You can sleep on top with a tent or swag
    Looks really good
    Low height

    Bad Points
Harder to go in car parks (applies to all roof racks)
Length wise slats make it difficullt (impossible) to source Kayak mounts
    - had to buy a set of racks to mount accross the slats so I could fit the
kayak supports (does that make sense?)
    Expensive
    Full length = noisy

That tradesman one looks great, I guess it would be not so noisy but would limit what you can carry on the rood as its not full length. For example, it wouldnt suit me because of my 16' kayak.

On a 90 though, you will want all the space you can get.
If you only want to stow a few small things I would go the tradesman. If your wanting to make max space you need a full length rack, you need something made of alloy.

Of course other option is full external roll cage. That would be my pick but Ive got no money left
    <My opinion. />
