No MAF flow showing on Defender TD5 on nanocom

    Hi,
So here's what's going on. I just changed my transfer case for a disco one, which will raise the gearing, which will require more power from a remap, which requires a nanocom. Nanocom turned up the other day. I put it on to test a few things, mainly to see what rev's i'm now doing, but noticed a few anomalies as well which I'm not sure will affect whether it can be remapped or not before the faults are fixed. Car drives fine by the way and plenty of power.

I'll try to post photos too.

-Basically I plugged the naocom in, and went for a drive, in the instrument panel I was getting max 1.16kpa for turbo pressure (I have a gauge, turbo is working fine) but on the fueling inputs page, I get correct turbo pressure reading, so I assume MAP sensor is working fine and I have correct ambient and manifold pressures, but no manifold pressure on dashboard page.

I cleared faults and re test run, one fault is up (2.8) ambient pressure circuit logged low.

-Now for the MAF reading, it is a constant 4.3 or 4.4 reading, no change, I unplugged the MAF and then got constant 4.0 reading. No change in performance noted. So maybe, as there was some change (4.4 to 4.0) then the wiring harness to the maf is ok, maybe the maf is buggered. or a blown fuse.

-Does the defender td5 have a fuse like the disco which could be blown and controls the MAF, EGR modulator and a couple of other things? Where is it?

-EGR inlet and wastegate modulator on fueling inputs page seem to open and close as they should. But EGR modulator not changing value.

    - I have blanked off egr, and the egr valve was caboned up and stuck shut so it doesn't work, but the modulator may still give a signal.

Some clues in this post, but no answers https://www.aulro.com/afvb/discovery...ed-solved.html

I'm a novice with the nanocom so bear with me, Cheers All

MAF reading should be around 50 at Idle - looks like a faulty MAF sensor. As I understand it the system uses a default flow reading if the MAF fails.

Yep flatlining in the 4's means it's dead. Just to be sure though, check that there is no damage in the wiring from the MAF to ECU as it crosses the front of the engine.

And don't buy cheap for a replacement, they don't last. Go genuine, VDO, or Siemens.

    Cheers

Ps my wiring comment was for a D2. The defender routing will be different.

Thanks for that mate, I'll check the wiring too. Can't see a fuse in the defender manual that is for the maf either
