SupporterBugger I knew I should have spent the extra $, but what can go wrong with an ignition barrel.....
2 month old ignition barrel in my tdi 110 is now switching off over corrugations, I am now holding the key in position off road which is really annoying. Just wanted to see if it is a common fault and easy fix or just buy another (proper OEM). Just another reminder to do it right the 1st time, usually avoid britpart at all costs but for this one for some reason thought otherwise.

It's not just Britpart.
A genuine Lucas switch which came with the new genuine barrel is just as useless.
There is no quality control with these items nor care from the retailers (anymore?)
It's hit and miss.
If you can, take it back. Otherwise try to repair using the old and new one.
I ended up making an adapter to fit a D2 switch I had. Now have a far superior setup.

Had the key lock fail and jam the steering. Now just use a missile switch and red start button. Fortunately fell apart in driveway.

SubscriberI replaced mine a couple of years back. Hasn't had that much use since (ie not a daily driver) but recently started falling back from the "run" position after starting.
Found that if I rotated the rest of the bunch of keys to the top of the key there was enough pressure to hold it in the run position, but if they were at the bottom it always fell back.
Replaced it with a genuine Lucas one and so far so good. I was pushed for time when I replaced it so didn't bother pulling it apart to check on the actual failure reason.

SupporterAwesome thanks guys! Well I'll try to replace the switch and hope that sorts it otherwise I like the bypass option with just a starter button. Does anyone know if there would be issues with insurance with that?? I suppose there would be. It's my daily driver and touring ATM.

Well all I can say is Im very happy I buy parts from Roverlord. I had assumed that I had bought the cheap option and would have to wear the cost of premature failure as a result of cutting corners (regardless of where I bought it). However Mario came across this thread and contacted me, said that if I have i ever have any issues (even with the cheaper ones) just contact him and he will sort it out. So he offered to send a new Lucus one for just the price difference..... you dont get that sort of service (or care factor for that matter) from the big UK sellers.
So thanks to Roverlord yet again, always fantastic service and value (no I have no affiliation just another satisfied customer).

We had never had an issue previously and have brought it to the attention of the manufacturer. I mentioned to Squizzy that I just happened to read this thread and it wasn't until then it became apparent he had a bother. Unless we are contacted that some one has an issue we would be unaware of any problems.
