No TailLights! TD5 110
Hey guys, Electrical problems again which I hope someone may be able to help me with!
I have a 2005 TD5 110 wagon. I'll start with the latest problem which is preventing me from driving the Landy. No tail lights or brake lights. I have a fog light when switched on and a number plate light and one rh front parker, thats it. I have checked what earth points I could find including battery. I have tested all fuses with test light and a visual check and they are all good. Headlights work fine on high and low, car starts and runs fine too (apart from another problem which I'll go into later). It's funny (but not haha funny) that with the ignition on and all fuses healthy, that when the brake pedal is depressed the brake lights don't come on. This kind of leads me a bit to a switch, maybe ignition switch or main headlight on/off switch. This is related to another problem somehow, see below.
A week or two ago, I had been driving with head lights on and (it only did this sometimes) when I turned off the ignition the engine kept running, until I turned off the headlights then it shut off, I thought that was a bit weird. Maybe the ignition or headlight switch??
Next problem. It's left me stranded twice now. Sometime I go for a drive, to the shops or whatever, and when I get back in sometimes only 5 mins later it wont start. The fuel pump does not start up. Both times I have left it for a while, half hour or more, and tried again and away it goes, I can hear the fuel pump going and it starts like normal. Each time this problem occurs, no fuel pump noise and the coolant temp gauge goes sky high! When I turn on the ignition and see the gauge go up then I know it wont start. I am thinking a couple of things, but mainly think it's something to do with the inertia switch under the bonnet or it's wiring.
Thanks everyone in advance!
