Yep I made one and highly recommend. The biggest challenge I had in using it was finding a jack that had a big throw. Otherwise at the top it doesn't reach the transfer case or you make it higher and when lowered it won't fit out from under the vehicle.
What are the top tips for solving that problem?

I've finally pulled the finger out, and having a crack at making the design in the first post. I'll modify this as needed, if needed.

I made one from the drawings. I guessed the spot for the spigot to mount to the jack, and got it right as the T/C balanced well on it. I parked the Defender on treated pine sleepers,(so, 100mm off the ground.) and the jack reached at full height, then when lowered the whole lot trolleyed out under the chassis rail. Perfect!!

I only had to pull The T/C because the 'new' gearbox that was fitted by a not very far away Land Rover mechanic started leaking two weeks after having taken three weeks to fit. I was so furious at the treatment I got, that I was not going back, and dealt with it myself. Rear housing not torqued up and all bolts found to be finger tight.

I've used one a few times, the one I borrowed has a solid rod welded under that slots in a trolley jack. You can actually take the auto off attached to the TC with large enough trolley jack.

The steel was cut with a little 25A plasma. Worked a treat.
Hacked thru some 10mm plate for the wedge sections - it was not that pretty a cut at 25A cut, but DealWithIt.jpeg
It was then tacked together to get them ground down somewhat the same

Loving that deep penetration on the 5mm plate.
MAG welding, Argon CO2 Oxygen blend gas. Running approx 25V on 0.8mm ER70S-6 wire, in spray on a little 180A machine. The TIG tells me this setup was almost ideal. Minimal spatter and a nice spray arc in the horizontal position.
In a momentary lapse of judgement, the TIG got a little bit of undercut on the 10mm sections. He muttered something about poor fit-up, and something about the apprentice, but I really think he was trying not to spray his way thru the 5mm thin stuff. The 10mm plate was part of a weld coupon that just so happened to be almost the perfect size to lop in half diagonally and make work... the whole thing has got a bit of gravity for a glorified adapter plate.
