Front and Rear Calipers seals interchangeable??

Rebuilding '94 110 front and rear calipers. Somehow I got all rear caliper seals. Are the front and rear seals interchangeable?? The part numbers are obviously different but I checked and the pistons certainly seem interchangeable...the front pistons fit nicely into the rear calipers and visa versa.

    thoughts?

yes no problem so long as the pistons are the same diameter, the seals are interchangeable.

Depending on the year model, some have a sightly smaller rear piston ( I think 42mm, instead of the 46mm which is on the front)

I found seating the pistons is easy by hand if you coat the seals, piston etc with a brake grease, invert the caliper and press the piston up into the caliper using the index and middle finger of each hand to guide it up and in. can be tricky - that method helped me feel when the piston was square to the calper - when its right they slide in using hand pressure only.

The tricky bit is the metal seal - very easy to catch an edge and bend them - keep your old ones, if undamaged they are re-useable and you will need them.

The best way I found to press in the metal retainer is to install the piston, leaving about 8mm protruding - put the seal over the piston, and then use a piece of 4mm steel over the piston ( cut a piece larger than the piston) and using a small F clamp, press the piston and seal fully into the caliper.
