Thread: 130 rear speakers

Have a search on this forum. I'm sure Shingleback mounted some in a void above the rear doors. I also remember seeing some pics of speakers mounted up on the rear corner/curved part of the roof. I still need to mount rear speakers

Sorry I cant get pics right now. I have some 6X9 speaker boxes from super cheap.
I have them screwed brackets to the inside gutter as far apart and high as I could get them above the rear window, facing strait ahead.
Since then I have put a shelf around them and have them facing down.
I don't have any rear seats though, not sure if they would be in the way of rear passengers.

Sadly yes they would be very much in the way of rear passengers.
(smaller children, and Ranga, excepted)

I have also been considering this problem for quite some time and have yet to come up with a satisfactory solution.

I wonder if, given the rear speakers would be mostly for "fill" it would be the end of the world if they were behind the top of the rear seats...?

I've put 6"x9" speakers in the back, but I've still got the headliner.

not a 130, but this is what i have done:

I slid a sheet of aluminium bent to match the curve behind the head liner and bolted these speakers in the corners of the rear of my 130 Puma. They have never rattled or come loose.
They sound great and don't seem to get in the way of passengers when the seats are in or gear when we take the seats out and pack for a long trip and SWMBO packs.

I did a panel behind the seats. Makes use of the void and creates a good enclosure.
Good sound and no headroom issues.
No help if you want them up high though

Don130.... Was there enough strength in the headlining to hold the speakers without vibration? I still have the original headlining in my 130 and would like to do the same as your set up.
