My twisted mind is trying to imagine a meet up where everyone arrives and departs in Taxis. Am I warped or what?

Given the freedom to imbibe that comes with taxi patronage, something undoubtedly in your mind, hardly warped I say!

(Psssst... truly warped would be a variation on the dinner party theme (you know the one, where all the car keys are placed in a box and the ladies draw one and go home with the owner. The variation being no partners need be involved...just us and our defenders. )

I believe that that's the law of Selective Gravitation.

Murphy's Law is about things not going well and Riley's Commentary is about Murphy being unreasonably optimistic.

From the official workshop manual, I presume, by the sound of it.

Murphy means: One skilled in the ways of the Sea.

Murphy's law: If any thing can go wrong it will go wrong.

    Hardly optimistic.
    Cheers, Billy.

People have actually studied this stuff, apparently. One theory is it originated during rocket sled testing, but it is probably older than that.

    Murphy's law - Wikipedia

There is also Sod's Law, which is more extreme. Everything will go wrong:
