I would be looking for a soft or loose engine or gearbox mount that allows some part of the engine or gearbox to touch the body or chassis under high torque - or possibly something bent that is having a similar effect.

Still looking for vibration/coarseness in my TD5 Defender when pushing it a little hard. When I put my foot down in any gear when it has some revs and lots of power, the engine or gearbox/transfer box (not sure what) gets noisy and incredibly rough/coarse. It's hard to explain but under full throttle and higher revs it sound and feels horrible. Not that I drive it like this, but if you do need to put your foot down and rev it out more than usual, this happens. I removed the front drive shaft as thought it might be bad uni or something to do with it, but that made no difference. Searching around internet there is some talk about dual mass flywheels that can cause similar problem. It's all fine at normal driving - lower revs and normal load, including taking off and pulling normally up hills. It will happily and quietly run along the highway at 110k/h and it's relatively quiet and smooth (although 85k/h is nicer). I can squeeze the throttle when pulling up hills and its OK, but change down to 4th and give it boot and it's not good! Whenever the revs are high along with some load it sounds and feels like everything is about to explode.
Any thoughts much appreciated.

Even if the mounts look OK, make sure that none of the fasteners are loose.
