8 or so bolts that hold each seat in and there are also 2x nuts on the underside of the car (wheel arch side) that hold them in.
Hi there, Any hints or tricks out there about removing the foldup rear seats. are there springs and stuff that are going to leap out at me or what??
After two years lots of trips we've decided to remove them and put in a shelf across wheel arches for storage..
Any help appreciated..:-)
8 or so bolts that hold each seat in and there are also 2x nuts on the underside of the car (wheel arch side) that hold them in.
It's pretty easy. Just find all the bolts and unscrew them. No big secret to it. Just make sure you use the correct bit on your impact driver as I didn't and some of the heads chewed away and made it hard. I also filled the holes with silicone so no water or dust gets in as I'm not putting mine back in.
They are easy to remove... and also to refit.
But they are also bloody heavy so watch your back getting them out/in of the Defender!
You will also then be left with the release clamps. These also unbolt... the covers are just a push fit. I left my seat belt's in as the straps tuck up neatly under the retaining strap clips.
You will be amazed how much room there is in the back with the seats out! Personally, I think they are pretty pointless for anyone other than kids...![]()
...wish I had a 90, then I could remove the rear seats!![]()
