Thread: A helping hand...sort of

I had to replace one of those pesky little bulbs behind the heater control dial today, so I set to it. One of the first things I do is to put pieces of Duck tape on the dash where I will be levering out the front panel with a small screw driver to stop it getting marked...some where still in place from the last time I did this. Any back to the business in hand.
Having got the radio out I was engrossed in the process at hand when my daughter, who has Down Syndrome came to the passenger door and pushed in a 1/2 inch drive socket set. She had noticed I was working on the Defender and surmised that I'd need some tools, and she ment to help. I said "Thank you" and went back to the job in hand. She arrived back with a 1/4 inch drive set and a 3/8 drive socket set. She wasn't sure which I might need so she was covering her options.
A little surprised, but I thanked her again. Actually I was having difficulty removing the bulb as I was shaking with laughter.
Next up was a armful of spanners both metric and imperial. She was unable to carry the toolbox as it was too heavy but she was slowly but surely bringing it's contents. By now the passenger seat and floor was looking kind of cluttered to say the least AND I couldn't find the item I actually needed..a small tweezers to remove the offending bulb.
I was busy searching when I heard my daughter arrive again and looking up I was nearly decapitated by the breaker bar she had in her hands. This was getting serious so drastic action was called for. "Could you ask Mammy to bring me out a cup of tea?" I asked and off she went. This gave me time to complete the job at hand.
Anyway it took me longer clearing up the tools than it did replacing the bulb.
