Lately i have noticed that when I am listening to AM radio and I brake I get a static type interference which goes away when I take my foot off the brake. Also does it sometimes when changing gears. Any clues guys and gals? It is a pretty good quality Alpine car stereo which I fitted a while back and this problem is only just now appearing.

I get the same interference when I indicate, have the lights on, wipers on or even sometimes even thinking about putting the lights on (that last one I SWEAR happened once)
Keen to hear fixes for the problem...mine is also a decent aftermarket radio.

Most probably the antenna isn't earthed properly at the body end any more. Clean and add a separate earth if necessary. The cable needs the earth at both the radio and the body to stop picking up interference from within the vehicle.
