    Work light and fusebox

I'm looking to buy a work light to put on the back of the car. There are too many to choose from and am happy to take recommendations.

This is my first real electric accessory so Im thinking about installing a fusebox next to my battery. I saw one on Mud Stuff but was wondering whether anyway has a fuse box they are specifically happy about.

    Cheers!

Give some thought to where you install the fusebox - next to the battery would mean you'd have to remove the seat base and dig around in there to check/replace them. I'd recommend somewhere more readily accessible.
It's not broken. It's "Carbon Neutral".

Look at power box ( 1 input multiple fused outputs) rather than fuse box. Run 1 large wire (fused of course) to the rear of the car, then all your take-off wires are nice and short, and easy to troubleshoot.

I use a six way fuse box like this one

Fuse Boxes - Products - Narva

    Installed in the battery box

Re: access, cannot remember the last time I blew a fuse. It doesn't take much to lift the seat base out and remove the battery cover. In fact I recon it would be quicker and better access than where the main fuse panel is for tdi and td5's.

    Thanks that one looks good!

I agree on the access remark. My car is pretty much stock and I can't think of other places to put the fuse box (I mean where it's protected and - relatively - easily accessible).

Consider too what you might want to add down the line, and where you want this work light to switch from. Do you want it hot to the battery with the risk of flattening it if you leave it on? Other wise need to take your power from the factory fuse box or run a remote relay that switches with the key. To be honest it's easier than it sounds but have a good think first.

i built a raised centre console with a void underneath, all accessories are switched from there. Originally I did it with an accessory relay but I've added more stuff now and it will come direct off the second battery, when I can afford it

If you have a cigarette plug inside the rear door on the passenger side you could pick up the power there.

Regarding wiring a rear work light, when I wire our telescopic light pole to a Puma, there is a grey multi pin plug behind the plastic panel behind the rear RH tyre which I tap into. The purple wire is permanent power and one of the others is the reversing light wire (can’t remember what colour). As the light pole doubles as a work light and reversing light, this plug is ideal to connect to. All the wires in this plug should already be fused through the standard loom, so no need to fit a new separate fuse.

Thanks that is super useful !

If you don't mind me asking: what would be the best way to pull a wire from that location to the switch in the dashboard ? My reverse cam wires go from back to front but are partially exposed. Maybe pulling a wire underneath the car is also acceptable ? (with protection against the elements)
