Have you actually read the replies to your original post? There is huge interest in this project. Keep updating. Or, if you are too busy, get someone a little more net savvy to do so. Economy is between 10.5 and 11 litres per 100 which is great considering the power i have on tap.at the moment its pushing 70hp more at the wheels than a tuned 2.2 and nearly 100nm more it pulls in 5th from 40kms to 120 and beyond easily 6th actually accelerates up hill from 80kmh its much smoother through gear changes and it doesn’t matter what gear you go through a round about in.Shall have Moore updates after Xmas and should have costings by the end of January.So on that note may every one have a great cristmas and a happy new year Cheers Grinna

Im certainly interested and serious about upgrading my engine on my heavily modified 2012 110.
Im just waiting for info on when you may begin conversions for paying customers, and your release of the final product.
I tow a 21 foot off road van, so a better engine is seriously wanted.

I’m serious re this upgrade.
Im currently selling my home in FNQ, have put a deposit on a new Zone RV 20.6 Off Road van and looking at buying a block in Tassie, and traveling.
Time to start living life and enjoying my early retirement.
I’m concerned that the 2.2 will struggle with the van and as my Defender is a keeper, this engine swap is the logical next step. Only other option is a Discovery or RR, but I love my Defender and it’s done up just how I wanted.
Only 137,000 on my current engine and the BAS170 tune etc, but a 3.2 sounds more useful to me than a petrol V8.
‘I’ll be contacting Grinna for details and will likely get the vehicle looked into once the house sells and I take delivery of the van, hopefully by June(ish).
Ive also contacted MR Automotive re details of any engine swaps they do. Just waiting for an email reply.
I wonder if Auto is worth looking into with the 3.2 mod? Obviously, cost has to be managed as much as possible.
Lets keep the momentum behind this thread going.
More to follow from me re engine options as available.

Glenn will likely be more optimistic. According to him someone has put an auto in a Puma defender (started off as a 3.2 with auto conversion but the 3.2 was pulled and the auto bolted to the original engine). I've not seen or heard of it on the forums so i'm interested to see how they did it. Ashcroft experimented with a 3.2 and 6R80 auto but my understanding from communicating with them they had problems and it didn't get finalised. Having searched high and low on all land rover forums i didn't find any 6R80 auto conversions in a Puma (whether behind a 3.2 or the 2.4/2.2). AFAIK all 3.2 conversions are a manual box (save for what i was told by Glenn above). From my experience the auto from the Ranger 3.2 (6R80) fouls the front prop shaft necessitating rotating the TFC to clear or going to a divorced TFC set up (fine for a 130, maybe even a 110, not for a 90). For a non-divorced set up you will need to make a spud shaft to join the auto to the TFC which i've been told will have the same problem of a non-lubricated spline like the current Puma set up for the MT82 to TFC. If your defender is lifted the rotation of the TFC amplifies the front prop shaft angles. I run a multiple double carden front shaft (1 at each end) and i'm sure it would not cope with the angles.Quote:

I'd be most pleased to be proven wrong and someone engineer the 6 speed auto behind a 3.2 that is reliable. Strike me down but a rear end coil conversion to a 76/79 series LC is cheaper and easier than all of the above with the bonus of a V8 diesel and remote touring support.
