    Rim offsets

Hey sorry to bother everyone with another wheel/tyre thread but i dont think i can find the right answer. If any body could offer some advice that would be awesome i currently have the disco style steel wheels on my 200tdi defender 1993 model with 265/70/16 tyres on the rims. I want to buy some new steel wheels through a local tyre shop so they will be like a sunraiser style rims. Can any body advice on what offset or rim i would need so that i wont run into any issues or even if anybody has a better suggested tyre size as well?

I laid a piece of wood across the inside of the wheels I've had over the years ( any flat piece of wood or steel over 16") & measured the distance to the inside face of the wheel.
    They are-
    Disco 7"137
    Wolf 6.5" 117
    Standard Land Rover 5.5" 123
    Rangie Alloy 7" 139
    Range Rover 7" 128
    After Market 7" 115
    Sunrasia 7" 126

So I would say - on a 7" Rim the standard offset is 137 & any less is the amount of Offset
I suggest you consider that most of the aftermarket rims have a larger centre hole & are a bugger to fit, especially in less than ideal surroundings. There are spacers ( rings) available to fit over your hub to make life easier.

I just fitted infinity 16x7 0 offset rims to my 130

    Rated @ 1200kg

From memory $120 a rim including fitting of tyres

    IMHO best legal offset for a 110 / 130

If it helps, the standard offset on D1 and Defender 90/110 wheels is stamped on the rim and is 33mm.

I agree, especially if running tyres taller than 32".

As Ron said, the stock offset for 90 and 110's is 33mm, 130 HD rims are 20.6mm, but when I was running 255/85's 0 offset was easily the best.
And the tyres should just be inside the flares with them.

Awesome thanks for the info, do you guys think there would be any improvement in the defender with the slightly lighter steel wheels reducing unsprung weight compared to the factory steel wheels?

Not really, given the weight of the tyres hubs axles etc, wheels would be maybe 5% of the unsprung & you might save 15% of that.

i run 235/85x16 pirelli atr's and they are just inside the guards / flares etc. had 255/85x16's on my last 300tdi 110 and they were a nats cock too tall when towing 1.5 tonne IMHO so went with the 235's on the 130 as it will be towing a van.

Yea that makes sense regarding weight of the tyres, i picked up a set of wolf rims but they are the tubed ones and im a bit reluctant to fork out for new tyres if the tubes give me issues, does any body rate tubed tyres ?

    Run them tubeless.

The beads are super wide, they won't roll off the rim.
Resist the urge to run tubes, they suck big time and will only weld themselves to the tyre and fail.

Plenty of us have run those rims tubeless for near twenty years without issue.
