    Air Con vents

What I believe to be the original vents (part HYM676 I believe) in my 95 model are rubbish - they are quite flimsy and the fins are falling apart - and it appears they may not be available. Anyone replaced them with something more durable and effective?

I've found the BTR7071 model, which look much better (and bigger) than mine, but not sure if they will fit (the housing will need modifying). Vent Facia - Paddock Spares

    Hi Ranga

I searched everywhere for the original HYM696's.

I ended up using a generic louver and just making the hole bigger to suit. I used a very sharp blade to cut the material of the air con unit

    I bought these:

Vintage Air Dash Mount Rectangular Vent Suits 63mm Duct Black with Chrome Accent: Speedy Air Spares

They just push in once the hole is cut to size (I used glue as well just to be sure)

I was hoping to do the same with the BTR7071 units, but need to work out sizing.

    Hi Andrew,
What was the quality like with those?
My Defender needs a few new ones and the factory ones are pretty expensive for what they are.

    Cheers,
    Paul.

    Hi Paul

They are good quality and had no issues so far. They have been in about 12 months. Survived a trip to birdsville in September last year and the vent closest to the passenger door does get knocked occassionally.

I've also used Speedy Air Spares gear in my other car which I installed air con about 12 months ago. Louvers work well

So I believe the earlier vents and unit were locally produced.

Try: LOUVRE UNIVERSAL AIR CONDITIONING - LV 0004
