    Hi,
    There is a good camp and a shelter hut near the crossing.
    Cheers

    Did you have to winch much on Montezuma or Jeep track?

    Best of luck with your diff issue mate.
    Hopefully we'll catch up on the trails again sometime. I'm definately going back to Tassie; the last trip was more of a recce for the next one!

    Cheers,
    Col
    No, I didn't winch at all.

    Jeep Track;
    • Loads of very steep inclines and loads of very deep boggy holes. On one particular incline i had to get out have a good look and following three attempts used the 'start the car in 1st low' to crawl out of the ruts and steep incline.
    I checked every bog hole before i waded in and found some to be very deep )approx 3m with another 2m of liquid clay on the base. Thankfully I also saw where the meek(myself included) had gone round rather than through. If on my own or with another vehicle I'd wade in and enjoy the challenge however with SHMBO and moody teenagers the less time bogged the lighter the mood. I'll try a link of video Facebook

    Montezuma;
    • very slow track with only a few steep sections however the few spots are challenging. As mentioned another driver found the track to have been cut up by young bucks with heavy right feet.A vehicle we met going in via the flats road took two hours to get themselves out of a situation and then turned around.
    I also met a group of four landcruiser drivers who had just done the ring Rd, they suggested that as I was on my own they personally wouldn't do it. Once again those joining me on board helped steer the decision,..Haha!
    Nice thing with the traction control is it does make a difference. The lady i accompanied out needed to use lockers a number of times and when asked what system of lockers I had she was surprised i had none!

    We all had an absolute ball, went down to Cockle Bay and whilst out of time saw the outstanding scenery and viewed briefly some great 4wd tracks.

    Col looking 130 there Col..... Not sure I would have continued along that track by myself, but that's probably more to do with me still learning what the 110 can and cannot do..... One thing I have noticed with the 110 with the Salisbury rear diff is how easily they get hung up on the rear diff....

    btw: some great photos

    Gday Rob, sorry we missed you on your way home recently.
    I didn't actually take as many pics as usual and the only action ones were taken by my daughter, point and shoot' style! She did alright on those, but you really can't tell how tricky that track was from pics & vids.
    One drawback of the 130 is that she's so long and, yes those diff hangups can be a pain.
    I would consider portals but I really don't have the budget (and my wife would leave me)
    Loved having the ute though and once I get a proper box for it, it will be sweet.
    Have you posted anything of your trip Rob?
