Question 2nd Fuel Tank Filler for a Sill Tank - Where to source one?

    Gents....

I'm looking to install a sill tank & I was wanting to just tap into the original fuel filler (ie have a "Y" joint made up) but I might have to change my mind due to the cost of having the original fuel filler modified into a "Y" type filler. The bloke I saw quoted me somewhere between 2>4hrs @ $100/hr which is just getting too expensive for what it is....

So, I'm now looking at installing a second filler just below the passenger's door in that triangle section where I've seen a few on here put theirs, but I can't seem to find a suitable 50mm filler to install. I was wondering what people have used and where they have sourced their filler from?

Also, I'm wanting a 2nd filler that is "lockable" too.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

    Rob

Mulgo Expedition Centre used to do a two way filler on an exchange arrangement, for the new one and return the original.

No longer on the website but it might be worth dropping Daniel a line.

2nd Fuel Tank Filler for a Sill Tank - Where to source one?

This is a 30 minute job. The guy needs a new profession if it takes him four hours.

You get some funny looks at the petrol station but I just cut a hole in the top of the tank and another through the drivers floor. Open door, remove cap, fill tank. The floor mat covers the hole

I used one of these in the top of the tank, with the barb cut off

Yeah, looking at something like this but in a 50mm but I don't want it inside the car due to the diesel smell that the missus wouldn't appreciate.....

It's a bit more than a 30min job as to get the angle right and then mark out the shape and weld..... He mention that it could take him less time but I didn't want to be hit with a huge bill if it took him longer....

    filler for second fuel tank

My 2 nd tank filler pipe is from an old Holden fuel tank, some of them are quite long,so you can trim to size, you can buy a lockable cap if you need to.

re the Y joint for the second tank filling, some silver solder will do a fine job, no need to weld it, 30 minutes work if you have oxy gear or a mate who's a plumber.

    cheers simmo.
