Why? Is a 150a alternator not enough?
Do we have a high output alternator option for a Puma | TDCI
I am thinking whether the current OE is adequate to charge a 220AH LC BB at high charge rate without frying itself.
Why? Is a 150a alternator not enough?
Anyone with a burned alternator? If so whats the RCA? I would like to be free from a solar blanket/panel if I can help it, one less thing to carry. And I figure with a 220AH LC BB I can Camp for nearly a week without having to worry about cold beer.
Got a link to the specs on that battery?
By my calculations you’re going to have fun mounting that... 66kg and over a $1100 for them on average.
$1500 will get you the same useable capacity at 16kg
I think you'll find the standard 150A alternator will do everything you want. The question is are you going to drive enough hours between camps to charge it up?
Whats the charging current specified for that battery?
Battery Spec Sheet:

Battery price is comparable to similarly spec'ed AGM @c20
Li is not an option due to complete system change from what I have ATM. CALB is an interesting idea which I will explore long term no doubt
Thanks for all your valuable input
What are you currently running system wise?
I ask this because Fusion and Enerdrive have offerings as above with built in BMS so may be compatible with what you currently have.
That weight is going to need some serious framework and mounting to be safe for you.
Remember too, it’s going to take the best part of 5+ hours of constant driving to bring it back up.
Nothing Fancy:
D250SA + Smartpass 120 stacked inside mulgo xbox along with relocated electrics and fuseblocks.
All the wires then traverse to the underseat battery compartment where i house 2x Batteries (AGM+LC), the second LC will be housed between the bucket seats(exmoor) i am installing in place of the 40/60 seats so there is adequate bracing in my opinion, a second cubby box will sit on top of it.
Other Bits:
Have anderson on the rear crossmember with 20A breaker for 150W solar input to the D250SA
Have a redarc dual battery Monitor with hall effect sensor for monitoring
Will be packing a ACDC LC charger incase i have power, but not too sure what yet.
