I've had this problem myself, just outside our front gate so a tow-in was easy with our Disco. The wire that brings power to the solenoid had open-circuited right at the terminal crimp connector. They get a fair shaking in the good ol' smooth idling 300TDi. So I'd suggest using a circuit tester on that wire a centimetre or two back from the connector with the "ignition" switched on. If that's the problem, replace the crimp connector. Slip a bit of heat shrink over the cable before you crimp the new connector to reduce the risk of it failing again.
