300 Tdi AC condenser damage by bonnet safety catch- check

I was changing the gromets on the top radiator mount today, and noticed some oil mark on my AC condenser. It looks like the bonnet safety catch has been rubbing there for years, its not an easy place to see.

Normally an oil mark on your condenser means a hole, and escaping gas and frig oil. , and means a new condenser and regas. Ouch that's going to hurt.

If I'm exceptionally lucky, the oil mark will be caused by run off lanotech I sprayed onto the bonnet safety catch a week or so ago. fingers crossed.

The bonnet safety catch is a flimsy affair and easily bent, and there's not much room in there, so it can easily rub on the condenser.

It may pay for any 300 Tdi guys with AC to check their bonnet safety catches, and make sure they're not rubbing on the condenser. ( may apply to other models.)

IIRC there should be a small piece of angle steel on top of the condenser to protect it.
