    PUMA Heater Switch fault

    Hi all,
I have a 2014 PUMA and the heater switch has decided not to work...well, it will on the second position just to the right of where it is supposed to. Mind you if I have aircon turned on, it seems to operate independent whether you have fan speed selected or not.
Is this a common problem? I'm going to have a look behind the dash panel this weekend to see what I can see, might be a simple thing...or not! Does anyone know the workings of these...do they work on some type of contacts, I know it may have a cable attached, but I've had a look through the forums and they all seem to relate to older Defender models.

    Cheers, Neil

A little more detail on what the problem is might help, I suspect you're referring to the temperature control / heater tap, if it is not shutting off completely (i.e. you get hot air when you've got it set to cold) there is an adjustment under the bonnet near the firewall on the left; unclip the cable and adjust it so that the tap is fully closed when the control is all the way to cold. If you mean the fan switch, I'm not certain but I think it's mounted directly behind the panel, i.e. no cable, so perhaps it's come loose. The fan on this model comes on when the aircon is switched on, in many vehicles you have to switch on both the a/c and the fan to get a/c, the defender is (of course) different.

Hi, sorry it wasn’t that clear now I look at my post again. I am referring to the heater fan switch. So fan position 1 is not working neither is position 3, yet just right of position 2 it works.
I started to remove screws from dash to see if I could get behind it but looks like I have to remove all and sundry before dash will come off. I’ll look further into this before going further, but thought if it was just a lose contact or wire I could fix easily, or if it was just needing a clean, but not sure what type of switch is behind it all.

Its just a simple slide switch.

Fascia off, which involves un plugging all the electrics in the fascia (PITA but nothing to be afraid of), then undo 4 screws that hold the Heater controls in place and you should be able to rotate it enough to see if the plug is loose.
